Ice;;
Night. The spirits were at play, their rainbow-like colors dancing in the black sky. Pale yellow eyes glanced up at the sky every so often, and the owner of those eyes could have sworn he could make out shapes of past wolves who had died, stopping their play for single moments at a time before returning to nibbling on each other's ears. Giving a low growl, the male wolf called Ice continued his trek through the ridge. Why the hell did my mother treat me like that? He would have asked the spirits, if he wasn't so caught up in his own pride. No. Instead, he glared up at the sky and parted his lips to an "o", then flattened his large ears and let out an earth-shaking howl. "Here I am, stupid Spirits!" His howl sailed over the surrounding rocks and through the forests. "If you're so 'brilliant', help me to understand!"

Fehlend gave a soft sigh, smiling his twisted smile at the playful colors. His golden eyes drank in the soft shimmering and dancing and fading of the aurora. He did not care that there were more beautiful sights to see, ones that only spirits could see. The wolf did not want to be responsible for a mortal. Only to pretend he still was.
So he saw the mortal view. So he loved the mortal view. Fehlend sank down onto his long, russet legs and sighed again. His peaceful night was disturbed by a howl. An ugly howl, thunderous and distressing. Yet Fehlend could not bring himself to hate it. The only thing the horrendous sound did was rouse his curiosity.
With an excited grunt, the spirit wolf leaped into the air. He hung there, for a few moments, before landing and jumping again. Fehlend continued in this fashion until he alighted next to the howling wolf. "What do you need to understand? I wouldn't trust myself to-Oooh!" he yelped, pouncing at the flickering ray of moonshine. He continued jabbing at the light until he seemed to suddenly remember Ice. "So what do you not understand?" Fehlend repeated in a soft whisper.

Ice snapped at the spirit's neck, knowing he'd probably fail miserably and miss. However, he felt like he needed to try. "Silence!" He snarled. "Who asked you, anyway?!" Then he leaped backwards, fur bushed out three times his normal size. He stood there, stiff as a stone, for a while before he finally relaxed, flattening his ears. "Just help me to understand." He growled, fixing his pale yellow gaze on his huge paws. "Help me to understand why I needed to black out when I was supposed to be brave as a pup. Help me to understand why I 'murdered' my sisters. Why I hate she-wolves so much. Just help me." Why was he pouring all of his crap out onto this spirit? Ashamed of himself, Ice whirled around and started to trot away. I need a girl. He thought. So why do I treat them all wrong?

Fehlend giggled as the mortal's teeth passed through his neck. It was an interesting feeling—to know you would have been dead if you weren't already. "Well, you asked, didn't you?" he said, hurt that wolves would still try to kill the dead. "Hate?!" the spirit squeaked mournfully. "What a poor word. How can you hate what you don't understand? And once we understand, we love."
The words weren't supposed to come out. He wasn't supposed to become attached to this wolf. But Fehlend could not stop himself. His blank eyes changed just a bit as more words flew out. They changed to a faint look of horror. "You don't have to be brave. And you don't have to hate. I 'murdered' my brother. I do not hate my mother. I love my mother because I know she loved Kan. She loved what I love enough that she would try to keep them safe.
As for she-wolves, don't you hate them because, as I said, you don't understand them? And you blame yourself for the death of your sisters without knowing what happened." Fehlend closed his eyes and too a deep mortal-breath. It was good to breath again. As his golden eyes opened and stared past Ice's figure trotting away, Fehlend breathed again. He was detached for now.
